A busy day.
Jeni and I have a morning routine.I'm usually up at 6:30am,I make the coffee, turn up the heat, and I watch a couple of episodes of "Frasier"That show cracks me up!Jeni is usually up at 7:30-8:00am.We check the morning news and were ready to greet the day.today jeni went up to the kiosk to clean and open up if enough people come in.the weather is partly cloudy and cool.I went to the maintainence yard to pick up 9 "campsite" posts.I installed them in the sites that were missing posts.I also installed "campsite numbers"on the posts.I also placed a "camphost"sign on a post at our campsite. We put in about 4hrs today. This afternoon we went down to the "day use" area to see how the const for the" Mercedes Benz"rally I told you earlier about is doing. The rally is Mar.7th-18.We came back and sat awhile on our deck and watched the"Red tail hawks hunting for dinner. The weather turned rainy, and windy so we retreated to our "comfy"RV for the night. The only drawback here is the "spotty cell phone service we have here.We are thinking of getting a" booster" to get better service but it's 400.00 so were a little hesitant. We do have a phone land line in the RV that the park gave us that we can call out on in an emergency.
the weather!
Well the weather turned ugly!Cold, windy, and rain!!! Jeni worked briefly in the kiosk this morning but because of the weather nobody was comming in so we cleaned campsites and puttered around the RV. Our Ranger Supt.Tom stopped by this afternoon to give us keys and give us some things to do tomarrow. We all walked over to one of the campsites to view some Mountain lion tracks that tom had heard about.Thats what they were alright. They were as big as my hand. The ranger said it was about a 200lb lion.Usually you never see them and there is plenty of game here for the lions so their not interested in people. We have seen bobcats a few times but we haven't seen any mountain lions."YET!"
A steady rain set in this evening so we couldn't set out on our deck.Oh well,We just settled into our RV,turned on our computers, turned on our sattelite tv,and watched our favorite shows."Camping is rough!"

living the dream
When we officially started work Sat. morning as camphosts we donned our hats and vests and manned the kiosk. We put in 5 hrs.sat,6hrs sun,and 6hrs. mon.The campground was full ,and the fisherman were plenty. The weather was sunny and nice.Cherl, the head park aid worked with us sat,and sun.then we were on our own mon.Presidents day.We sure love it here this is a nice park!
Today is our day off so we are off to Hesperia,Ca.to do laundry, grocery shop, and paperwork stuff. It's about 11 miles to Hesperia and it's a very scenic drive there.
this afternoon we sat out on our deck and watched the storm roll in over the mountains. The temp. dropped 20 degrees in an hour but no rain yet.We only have a couple of campers in now so it is nice and quiet.
Mercedes Benz is setting up a big production in the day use area.Trucks, tents, concessionares, security people, and mercedes benz execs are streaming into the park. It's some kind of road tour ending at the park in a couple of weeks.Mercedes Benz is donating 20 new "bear proof" trash cans, and constructing and painting the ramadas in the day use area.
Well were back at it tomarrow.Camphosting is fun!

camposting
Jeni and I worked the kiosk again today. Cheryl the head aid worked and trained us again today as this is a holiday weekend. It's busy again, the camping slowed down but people comming to the lake for the day and boaters were pouring in.We worked about 5 hours and headed back to the RV. It was a beautiful day in the 60s.We sat on our deck at our site watching the campers comming and going.Tom Gunther the supv. ranger stopped by to thank us for helping out and have a cup of coffee with us. We also had some hikers stop by to visit and check on the condition of the trails. We had a full deck of people. As night fell, everybody left and we went inside. We were too busy today to go out on the "Eagle viewing tour today but we plan on going next week.
This is a beautiful park and there is alot of wildlife in the area.We have seen bobcats, eagles, cayotes, and an assortment of birds so far

Friday morning,in the rain, we hooked up and headed out to Silverwood lake SRP. about Gila Bend we got out of the rain and we had sunshine the rest of the way We got in about 3 pm to an almost full campground. the night ranger stopped by to let us know they needed us in the kiosk at 10 am tommarrow. It is beautiful up here. Silverwood lake is in the San Bernandino mountains at about 3000ft elevation.
Jeni and I thank everybody at the rally. We met so many people and the people we worked with on the parking crew were super. We will be back next year.
We miss everybody in Sacramento,Katie,Jackie,Dustin,Alyx, and DJ. We love you
